1. I found this lede in the Culture section of El Comercio de Quito. It was very interesting because I wanted to
know what the core of this news was and read the entire story.
“Last days of World Word II: dictator Adolf Hitler has committed suicide
in his bunker, but a fanatic nazi hierarch still wants to destroy the greatest
artistic treasure robbed in Europe. A group of miners, not the ‘Monuments men’
that inspire George Clooney´s movie, manage to prevent this from happening.”
The story is told in layers in an artistic format. As the readers
continue with the narration, they have access to different layers of data about
some topics:
- Konrad Kramar´s recent book
- An artistic issue that took place in Hitler´s time
- The main interest of a group of miners and their relation with the
artistic treasure that was robbed
- Historical background
In the lede, not much information is given, but enough information is
given for the reader to get interested in the story.
“The concentration and exact direction that the player wants to give the
ball are some of billiards’ characteristics, a game that brings friends
together, who perform over the table shots to demonstrate who is the best.”
This is an article that talks about billiards. It is not hot news but there
is not much information about the sport on the lede, or at least interesting
information about billiards that catches the reader. The author could have included
some striking element or datum about billiards history in this paragraph. I
think that the writer could have taken advantage of the fact that this story
isn´t hot news and write it in a more creative and artistic way. I also believe
that it is not correctly written.
So nice to read translations of ledes from Ecuador's newspaper.
ReplyDeleteNow I want to go see that movie. :)
