Monday marked a momentous occasion in Massachusetts -- the return of Yuengling beer after a 20 year absence! I first tried Yuengling at a pub in Philadelphia about 10 years ago, and the waitress laughed when I asked if it was a Chinese beer. The name sounded kind of Chinese to me, but it turns out Yuengling is brewed in Pennsylvania at the oldest brewery in the United States, dating back to 1829. And, it's a great tasting beer.
But, before Monday, I had only been able to drink it while in PA, or one of only 14 mid-Atlantic, Southern, or midwestern states. Massachusetts is the 15th state in the U.S. to now sell Yuengling.
Anyway, I enjoyed reading the following article from the Boston Herald this week about the arrival of one of my favorite beers back in Massachusetts. The writer had a well written lead, and a nice nut graph in the form of a quote. The article went on to give the background and history of Yuengling, and how it's likely to fair in the Massachusetts beer market. Overall, an interesting, informative, and fun article. And after work on Monday, I drank my first Massachusetts Yuengling with friends. :)
