In Ecuador, there is no preferred position for freedom of speech

I realized some of you have been talking about freedom of speech and its relationship with Supreme Court's decisions in the United States.

While this value has a preferred position in the history of the U.S. Court's decisions, in Ecuador it seems impossible to fight for freedom of the press -and freedom of though - when the Legal, Judiciary, and Executive branches are not independent. Rafael Correa has made it too difficult for journalists to denounce wrongdoing.

Here is a Washington Post story by Nick Miroff, in which he describes Rafael Correa's administration.

And here is what Rafael Correa says about his own administration.

Thanks for posting this interesting article. Well written and very informative. I especially liked Mr. Correa's focus on development and reducing social and economic inequalities.
